close The Importance of Picking the Right Shaft Flex
Your swing is unique in tempo and speed. And matching your swing with the right shaft flex is the most important factor in driving straight and long.
Take Tiger Woods. Replace his shaft with something much softer, and his drive will hook to the left. Replace his shaft with something too stiff, and his drive will slice to the right. He has a certain shaft stiffness that fits his swing.
And so do you.
The right shaft flex improves your accuracy. It ensures your club head is square on impact, and thus reduces tendencies to slice or hook
The right shaft stiffness also increases your distance by transferring more energy to the ball at impact. During your downswing, the club head snaps back - transferring all the energy during your backswing to your downswing. A shaft that’s too soft causes the head to lag behind your shaft at impact. A shaft that’s too stiff causes the head to get ahead of your swing at impact. Optimal energy transfer happens when the head and shaft are aligned exactly at the point of impact. The right shaft flex is crucial.
Your Own Tour Van
PGA Tour professionals have access to tour vans that create every possible combination of shaft and head for golfers to try. A pro takes several drivers out to the range and experiments until he finds the most optimal club that matches his swing. He puts his favorite in his bag, and is ready to play 18 holes.
Having the benefit of the tour van allows him to play with confidence, knowing he has the optimal shaft for his drives to be straight and long off the tee.
Testing different shaft combinations with your driver takes your game to the next level. With interchangeable shaft technology, it’s as if you have your own tour van. Or your own personal demo day.
Buying a permanently bonded driver (and hoping for the best) will be a thing of the past. The C830.4 Interchangeable shaft technology allows you to quickly and seamlessly swap in different shafts on the practice range, or even right on the course. It’s like having 3 different drivers in your bag.
USGA’s New Adjustability Rules for 2008
On January 1st, 2008, the USGA’s new ruling on interchangeable drivers went into effect. Billed as the Amendment for additional forms of club adjustability, the USGA effectively rewrote the rule books to approve drivers with interchangeable shafts as legal and conforming.
Originally banned in PGA Tour events, the C830.4 Plasma driver with Interchangeable Shaft Technology is now approved by the USGA with this new amendment. The USGA recognized interchangeable shafts as an innovative means of discovering optimal driver-shaft combinations.
Seamlessly swapping in different shafts is now the future of driving.
The Technology Behind Interchangeable Drivers
The patented M-Fit Interchangeable Shaft system involves a lightweight titanium shaft sleeve permanently attached onto the tip of the shaft.
The shaft is inserted into the head and fastened with a titanium end-screw. An Allen wrench tightens the shaft as if it was originally bonded. This eliminates the need of epoxy to glue the shaft and head together (which all other golf clubs rely on).
Removing the shaft and inserting a different flex takes less than 2 minutes.
#1 on the Tour
The Alpha C830.4 is the most popular interchangeable shaft driver on Tour. Dozens of PGA players now carry the C830.4 driver in their bags. It is a favorite among some of the longest drivers on Tour, including Jack Ferenz and Steve Thomas (who drove 407 yards at the American Senior Tour with the Alpha C830.4)

The Alpha Legacy – a Premium Club Head
Alpha Golf built its reputation in the Long Drive Circuit. Alpha drivers have been used to win 6 ReMax Long Drive titles since 2001 – more world long drive titles than Callaway, Ping, Taylormade, Titleist, and Nike combined.
The Alpha C830.4 club head is built with the same technology and design behind this superior long drive legacy. It maximizes Coefficient of Restitution (COR) and the “spring-effect” with an ultra-thin face made from SP700 Beta Titanium. The large and deep 460cc head, designed with precise perimeter weighting, positions the center of gravity optimally in the X,Y, and Z planes. This ultimately serves to maximize Moment of Inertia (MOI) and forgiveness. A plasma-welding process of the face to the body creates a solid feel and sound at impact. And variable thickness across the face (aka Increased Target Design) increases the effective sweet spot.
Three Drivers in One
A superior club head, paired with 3 different shaft flexes, ensures you will be playing with the right club for years to come. Even if your swing speed or tempo changes with your game, you will have the driver that fits your swing.
The Alpha C830.4 is packaged with a soft, regular, and stiff shaft – effectively 3 different clubs for 3 different swing profiles. Judge for yourself – what effect the shaft flex has on your ball flight. And finally have the confidence that your club has been custom fit, tested, and proven – by you, for you.
Headcover
A purchase of the C830.4 Plasma driver set also includes Alpha's easy-to-use Magnetic headcover. Not only is it a great compliment to your driver, this fast and simple design makes protecting your new Alpha driver a snap!

Take the Alpha C830.4 to the driving range and try out all the shafts. If one of the shaft combinations does not give you 20 extra yards, we will refund your purchase 100%.
