How to Choose a Golf Driver
The right driver comes down to four things: enough loft to launch it, a forgiving head that keeps mishits in play, the adjustability to fine-tune your flight, and a build that fits your swing. Start With Loft
Loft is the first decision, and most golfers play too little of it. Forgiveness and Head Size
Forgiveness is about how much a mishit costs you, and it comes down to head size, MOI, center of gravity, and draw bias. Adjustability
Many modern drivers let you tune the head without buying a new one. Two systems matter, and both live in the head:
- Adjustable hosel. Changes loft and lie by a degree or two, so you can raise or lower your launch and tweak face angle to fight a miss.
- Movable or sliding weights. Shift weight to change spin and bias the head toward a draw or a fade. Heel weight helps square the face and fight a slice; back weight adds forgiveness and launch.

Fighting a Slice
If your miss is a slice, the head can help before your swing does. Look for an offset or draw-bias driver, or set a movable weight toward the heel. Titanium or Carbon?
Driver heads are built from titanium, carbon composite, or a mix of both. Titanium is strong and springy for fast ball speed across the face. Build It to Fit
- 1. Set your loft from your swing speed and launch, leaning higher if you are unsure.
- 2. Pick a forgiving 460cc head, with offset or draw bias if you fight a slice.
- 3. Dial in adjustability for the flight you want.
